When Skincare Goes Wrong

Hello!

I wanted to write this post after a bad reaction from a face wash I used. Now I'm not bashing or giving out about this product because 1, the smell of it was amazing and 2, it had that tingly feeling that it was really working on my skin. (I love that from a product) The problem was it was working too well.

Basically all I am trying to do is highlight that just because these products are packaged nice and promoted various ways to do this that and the other doesn't actually mean they will all work or agree with everybody.

I usually have fairly good skin, normal to combination with a breakout every once and awhile, nothing to complain about. However roughly a year ago I started to get really bad breakouts all over my face, they were those sore Mount Everest looking spots and no matter what I did I could not get rid of them. I had them for weeks and even make up was struggling to hide them. After getting really fed up and quite frankly feeling really down about them, I decided that the breakout had to have been caused by something I was using on my skin. I started keeping track of what was my most used products at the time, I stopped using various different things and nothing really changed until I stopped using a particular face wash. It took me so long to realise it was this particular face wash because I only used it once or twice a week and to be honest I think I  figured out it could be this product after reading another bloggers review. She had said how she found the product too strong for her skin and it was doing more damage than good. This particular face was so strong that it had caused this massive breakout in just a couple of uses. After I had stopped using it for  only about a week I immediately saw a huge difference in my skin, it finally started to go back to normal.

When it came to leaving my skin heal, I only used the bare essentials on my skin to give a good break, thankfully I was left with no scarring from the breakout. If this does happen to you go as long as you can without wearing make up, or choose a tinted moisturiser over foundation and creams and washes designed for sensitive skin are perfect to use while your healing.

So if you have a random breakout, or your skin starts acting differently make sure all the products you are using agree with your skin, and it really doesn't matter the price or brand I've had a bad reaction from the cucumber moisturiser  and eye cream from boots own brand but can use everything else from the range. The face wash I was using was the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser.

Please let me know in the comments if you have had a bad reaction to products before. Thanks for reading,

In Shower Tan

Hi everyone, happy Sunday,

If reading the caption your thinking what the hell is that well then your not alone. I came across the St.Tropez In-Shower Tan in Boots months ago and out of sheer curiosity I bought it to try it out. Basically it is a gradual Fake Tan you apply in the shower and rinse off straight away.

To be honest I am still trying to figure out what exactly it does. This sounded like the perfect product, killing 2 birds with 1 stone (One tired Mama) The bad, news I really don't like it. You rub it on while your in the shower, you dont need to be dry, leave it for 3 minutes and rinse it off, granted I did love the smell of it but that was about it.

As long as I left it on for I saw absolutely no difference in my colour at all and I have used this about 5 times, being equally disappointed each time. What I did find was if its not rinsed off right you end up incredibly sticky, so much so even my clothes were sticking to me afterwards.

Have you used this? If anyone had good results from this please leave me know because I really hoped it would be good because as a tired Mammy of a 2 year old this sounded like a dream product. Unfortunately it just wasn't a dream for me.

Thanks for reading, and I hope your all having a lovely weekend!

Eyebrows On Fleek

Hi all and Happy Monday,

We all know the importance of eyebrows and the difference they can make to the shape of your face! So I have been trying out some different eyebrow gels and now I'm sharing my thoughts on my latest purchase.

I recently purchased the Ka-Brow cream gel in shade 5 from Benefit and I must say I am impressed, that packaging alone is goals. The first thing I liked about it was how creamy the gel was and was so easily blended, I had previously been using the Cailyn Gelux Brow but I find Ka Brow is much easier to use because of the difference in textures. I am by no means a make up artist and it is only recently I am getting confident attacking my brows with any sort of gel but for me personally I found the Ka-Brow easier to work with.

I love the little brush that comes with the Ka-Brow too I find some brushes can be quite thick and i always end up having to flatten them off the edge of the container to get a sharper edge to it, whereas I don't have to do that with the Benefit brush, the size of the brush just seems to work much better.

Overall I am really impressed by this product and I would recommend it for people, who like me, sometimes struggle with their brows. It is a bit on the pricey side so I am still on the hunt for a good cheaper alternative, and please if you have any let me know in the comments below!

My Thoughts - Extraordinary Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi again,

These are my thoughts on a product that I have used before and loved but for some reason I stopped using it, I don't know why, but recently repurchased and fell in love with again.

I never have a go too shampoo, and that is probably why I stopped using this one for so long, I love trying new products so I suppose it is hard to stay using the same ones. As I have said in previous posts I have very fine, thin, dry hair. The ends turn to straw in a gust of wind and the roots turn greasy with the hairdryer. Because of that I tend to stay away from heated styling products as much as I can which leaves me dependent on product alone to maintain my hair.

The Extraordinary Oil Shampoo and Conditioner from L'orèal does just that. Now I am not going to claim it has changed my oily roots because it hasn't but what it has done is changed my dry, straw like ends. It makes them 100 times more manageable and as I have also said in previous posts, as a busy Mammy I always wash my hair at night which means my hair is in a knot by the time I wake up but the Conditioner has put a stop to all that.

Although my hair still gets greasy as fast, the shine my hair gets from this Shampoo and Conditioner allows me to get an extra day out of my hair. It also means I can brush my hair without it turning into a frizzy nest of nothing, making it less likely for me to reach for the straightener.

As someone who has tried 100's of Shampoos and Conditioners, these are up there with the most suited for my hair but if you have dry, frizzy ends I definitely recommend trying this, especially the Conditioner. And be sure to let me know what you think of them.

My Thoughts - L'orèal Pure Clay Wash

Hi all and happy Monday,

So if you read my previous blog post about the L'orèal Pure Clay Masks you will know I am a big fan. They are really good decent products and affordable so when I spotted the exact same products in a face wash version I was intrigued.
